Getting started for Term 2

Dear All

It's great to be back in touch even though it is from our own bubbles. We are really looking forward to hearing from you in our new distant classroom. The purpose of this post is to inform you of what is to come!

We are going to contact you through our Patiki Blog and you are welcome to email us with any questions you have:

tracy.campbell@waimairi.school.nz
kirsty.hay@waimairi.school.nz

If you prefer a chat you can ring us on the school phone number. Our extension is 607.

From the morning of Wednesday 15 April we will send through to you the activities and learning planned for that day through our class blog. It will involve some help from parents to set up some of the sites we are going to use as part of our day.

The activities are for you to do within your own 'bubble timetable'. We will be asking that you read through these with your child and you may like to print out what we have sent so your child can see it and understand what is happening. We may include different parts to the activities. This is so you and your child can pick and choose which one suits them best for that day. In Patiki the children have learning choices and activities that need to be completed by a certain time. You may wish to carry on with this routine, otherwise, you timetable it into your own "Bubble time".

We will be using Seesaw for children to post work on and for some activities. An email will be sent to you with your child's individual sign-in code. Once you have done this please send a photo of your child so that we know it's working. You will need to sign up for the following sites:

Seesaw (lookout for an email over the next few days)
sparklers.org.nz
Gonoodle.com

This is the outline of the plan for the children's projects. It is what they use at school so they are familiar with it. Next week, when we get into our Project learning the children, may wish to use this format. Feel free to write this on a piece of paper so the children can plan out their ideas. They are experts at this.

As well as daily tasks there will be activities that go over the week. We will ask that each day the children select at least one activity they have done for that day and post it on Seesaw. We will be able to share some of these with you.

Our focus over the next few weeks is to form connections again. Seesaw is a great way for children to proudly show their creations/activities and see photos of their friends doing the same. You might even see a video of Kirsty and Mrs Campbell, if you are lucky!!

Enjoy your Easter Break. Term 2 Home learning starts on Wednesday 15th April.

Kirsty and Tracy
